Jonathan began his career at Halifax Bank, working on the IT helpdesk before moving into their telecoms team. After several years, he travelled through Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia and Laos, and came back with a clear decision: he didn’t want to work for someone else. At 25, he launched his first business, Selective Networks.

Selective Networks grew steadily until Roger, who had been a supplier through Global Net Telecom, sold his company and approached Jonathan with an offer to buy. What could have been the end of Jonathan’s journey turned into the start of a strong partnership. Together, they built and sold IFace Group, relaunched Selective Networks, and made a series of successful acquisitions including Total Communications, Brontel, Comms Consult, Deep Blue and Adept Communications. Some were kept and grown, others were bought and sold quickly — but each one taught them how to identify value and maximise potential.
Today, Jonathan heads up the day-to-day at Tech Acquisitions. While Roger focuses on strategy and the big picture, Jonathan dives into the detail: reviewing financials, verifying figures, raising funds, cutting costs, and ensuring acquisitions can be smoothly integrated. He also works closely with Eden on operational delivery and with Mark on building the acquisition pipeline.
What sets Jonathan apart is his personal approach. He understands selling a business isn’t just about numbers – for many owners, it’s emotional. Having sold his own businesses, he knows how it feels and he goes to great length to make sure that Tech Acquisitions never comes across as cold or corporate.
Outside work, Jonathan is a devoted dad to two teenage daughters. A lifelong rugby union player with Bradford & Bingley, he credits the sport with teaching him teamwork, discipline and resilience – qualities that have obviously done him well in life. He’s also a keen skier, heading to the slopes two or three times a year to properly switch off.
